The WBOC Sports Department has put together the top five stories of 2015 chosen by our viewers. Take a look at what Delmarva thought were the most important stories of the year in sports!
1.) Cape Henlopen Football Fans Cause Outrage at Sussex Tech Game
This story was centered around the controversial sheet displayed by Cape Henlopen football fans at their game against Sussex Tech.
Many spectators took to social media to express their concern about the inappropriate language displayed on the sheet. Complaints were filed with Cape Henlopen School District and the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA) who then handled the situation.

2.) Controversial Ending in Lake Forest/Delmar Football Game
With one second left on the clock, the Lake Forest Spartans attempted a potential game winning 18 yard field goal and wound up loosing 19-14.
The kick was blocked and the Delmar Wildcats started celebrating like they won the game, however, the ball never crossed the line of scrimmage, which meant it was still a live ball.
Lake Forest kicker, Austin Aguilar, scooped it up and ran it in for the touchdown. Game over—Lake Forest beat Delmar, 19-14.
3.) David Slays Goliath; Smyrna Football Wins State Championship
The Eagles football team won the Delaware Division 1 State Title beating Salesianum, 32-26 in overtime on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the University of Delaware.
The game was tied 26-26 at the end of regulation, the Eagles got the football first. Will Knight scored on 4th and goal from the one yard line. The two point conversion attempt was no good.
The Sallies had a chance to win it with a touchdown and an extra point. But on fourth and goal from the one, Colby Reeder was stuffed by the Eagles Eli Hutchinson ending the game.
Smyrna became the first Henlopen Conference football team to win the Delaware Division 1 State Championship since 2008, when Caesar Rodney beat Sussex Central for the title.
4.) Duron Harmon Misses Patriots Practice Due to Birth of Son
Caesar Rodney graduate and current New England Patriots safety Duron Harmon had never missed an NFL practice in his three-year career until the birth of his second son.

5.) Yes, she’s a girl. Yes, she plays football.
Woodbridge HS Girl’s Soccer striker Megan Joseph was the school’s secret weapon on the football field this year.
It only took the junior three tries before she made her first field goal and she has been on the football team ever since. Joseph wrapped up her senior season. The kicker looks back and prides herself on being the only girl on the team.
